Hello!

Sorry! I know it's been a while between posts. Lumpy and I are getting our vege patches up and running while the weather is cooler. We have a busy busy week coming up, i will take lots of photos and post next week!

A little while a go i read somewhere "why grow grass, when you can grow food?" This has really made me think, and now I'm doing something about it!! - i am increasing our edible plants - we had Mandarin, paw paw, blueberry and strawberry (had tobuy 6 more plants as dog vs berry patch... you know who won) and garlic chives.
We now also have leeks & rosemary seedlings. With passionfruit seeds and cayenne cilli seeds to raise! as well as a wish list as long as my arm. BUT baby steps, and we will get there. (OH we also have our neighbours lemons hanging into our yard)

Yet again the wonder Homemade Mumma has shared her knowledge and ideas with me - don't throw it, grow it! makes sense now that you have heard it, right?!? this has lead to me regrowing shallots, potato (just waiting for them to sprout a little more before planting out in the big bad cold world) and experimenting with pineapple top (it is 18-24 month before we can pick a pineapple tough).

Yummy, cheap, healthy treat!

I saw a pic somewhere this week (and i truly can't remember where) of yogurt ice blocks. So when I saw a 4 pack of Activia yogurts reduced to clear at $1.35 I grabbed them and knew what to do!

What you need-
Yogurt tubs (as many as you want)
Paddle pop sticks (same number as yogurt tubs)
Freezer.

no idea what that streak is?!?!

Next time you do that late night supermarket trip keep your eyes out for discount yogurt!

Queens Park Ipswich

Yesterday Lumpy and I were invited to Queens Park for a picnic and to check out the animal area. This whole thing is free! massive play areas, great zoo type area and lots of grassy areas (and a cafe and Nermia Gardens).More info can be found HERE.

This is a great park to spend a whole day. Remember this is a popular spot ESPECIALLY during school holidays.
It's tough being a kid!

In the barn yard animals area, this rooster would crow so Lumpy would squeal...

She wasn't able to make water come out! bless her for trying!

So this is what you do instead!

Lumpy is sitting here with me as I type this post and she is reminding me that "mumma water broken" . I don't have the heart to tell her it is user error!

Easter Adventures

Easter has now been and gone (so has my waist line! ;)) Here are some photos of our adventures (I had to work most of Easter so most "adventure" photos will be on the daddy ones phone)

Lumpy made an Easter "nunny" mask at daycare!

Pre-Easter shopping trip at DFO (she needed winter clothes ;)). Shopping in hard work we needed lunch.

Good Friday we had a get together with and Lumpy needed a "hay down" (she wore her helmet ALL day she loved it)

Play tent, and basket of goodies left by the Nunny

Hope you all had an amazing easter with lots of family time xx

Dark room and a torch!

So photos here will not be very good. Lumps LOVES torch light, Out went the lights, she grabbed the torch and had a ball, so much laughing and such a budget friendly thing to do.

Complete with her packed up table and chairs!

We made shadows on the roof.

Sick season is here

Miss Lumpy has been sick - snotty, sneezey and conjunctivitisy.
So looking for alternative safe ways to help keep her comfortable and get well quickly (yes I am using honey and cinnamon!!!). When this morning Homemade Mumma posted this link (link) to a vicks disc.

So after work i grabbed some eucalyptus, tea tree and peppermint oils.

Most people are aware of the benefits of eucalyptus and the antibacterial properties of Tea tree, Not many people know the many uses of peppermint (peppermint )

Respiratory Problems: The menthol in peppermint oil helps clear the respiratory tract. It is an effective expectorant and therefore provides instantaneous, though temporary, relief in numerous respiratory problems including nasal congestion, sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, cold and cough. Mixed with a carrier oil and rubbed on the chest, it helps break through nasal and respiratory congestion.

I put mine in the oven to get them ready for tonights shower, 150 degrees for 25 minutes... (also I didn;t use paper cups as I didn't want to waste money or paper, I do suggest using silicon ones) i used a lot of drops!!!

Daisy Hill Koala Centre

Today we decided on a bbq picnic somehwere kind of local. We went to the Koala centre at Daisy Hill (info here). We packed our bbq picnic and portable small gas stove and off we went. The Koala centre is free, It has the centre with a few koalas and some information (great for kids that are able to read). It has picnic ground (plenty of table and some bbqs - which are free but need wood and the plate we had was really not great). There is also some bush walks which leave from the day use area. I have to say this was really a great day out and cost next to nothing.

We had an uninvited guest! Lumpy Loved it "hello bird"

We decided to do teh Tree discovery trail (800mts return) Up hill and some stairs but a very easy walk with a 2 year old who did over half teh walking herself)

Lumpy discovered an ants nest. So of course we let her stop and explore her find.

My world in one photo.

Daddy took his hat off and lumps made a nest in it!!!! <3 <3 Bless her.
Notice an extra head!
