Paper plate name caterpillar

Lumpy enjoys craft (as I'm sure you have figured out), she also enjoys writing.
I had stocked up on 25 cent packs of small paper plates after Christmas/new year period, so I wanted to do am activity to use some of those up.
I decided on a paper plate name caterpillar. She could paint the plates, write her name, glue on the face and have some help with the legs and stapling the plates together.
This activity was completed over 2 days - waiting for the plates to dry and Lumps got sick and sleepy (and slept 14 hours).
Another easy and cheap craft idea. Which will be getting hung on her wall. She is very proud of her 'perfect caterpillar'!.
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE having craft supplies in old coffee jars?! The opening is perfect for little hands, it keeps the supplies tidy and easily visible, making then enticing for a creative mind.

We did 7 plates - one for each letter of her name and one for the head.
Painting the plates for the body of the caterpillar.
good thing we use a craft apron...
Writing her name - one letter on each plate
trying to get the goooogly eyes
Perfect yellow eyes.
Helping mummy stick down the legs
The finished product. One very proud Lumpy!  (yes I am aware that some letters are written back to front)

Marble painting!

I remember as a kid in year one, doing marble painting. I loved it. I decided to see if Lumpy felt the same.

A pretty cheap and easy activity to set up. Paper, paint, marbles and a container.
I have found that now Lumpy is older, I can set up an activity and then she is happy to finish getting things ready and guessing at what to do.

I rate this activity a great success and one we will be revisiting again and again!
Getting the paper ready.
OH NO!!! the lid is broken!!
Just add marbles - she was confused as to why we were adding the marbles and her first guess was that the paint was gluing them down.
I suggested instead of gluing the marbles with teh paint, what if she moved the container?
On to the next one, she had this down pat!
Beautiful!
You can see in the background some different papers from arts/crafts over the weekend, painting, making caterpillars on paddle pop sticks, colouring in! Our craft supplies have been boosted recently so it's all fun and games exploring them all!

Peg dolls

Friday have become a regular play date day with a very wonderful friend and her son (+ her daughter when on holidays) I absolutely love this!.
This last friday we did some craft - Peg dolls!
I found the pack of peg dolls when replenishing the craft supplies (9 pegs for $2), cut up fabric from my offcuts/scraps bin, cut up some left over ribbons. Some glue and some felt pens and then let the kids go!
the pegs and fabrics
Lumpy picked a green dress to start!
Some of the finished dolls the children made!

New wall hangings

I confess, I have been pretty slack with craft lately, which i bad because Lumpy loves it, it keeps her entertained and developes skills.
This weekend I went and replenished our craft supplies - grabbed some new and more age appropriate items. As soon as we got in from work and day care Lumpy decided we would craft!
Today's activity was to use 2 cheap canvas and make new wall hangings for her room. We paint inside on the lounge floor, hence the drop sheet.... paint in grout is hard.

Start with the canvas, We used some plain clear tape to add a little something extra.
We used some paint rollers
